Mastroberardino Greco di Tufo DOCG
Description: of straw yellow colour with intense and complex fruity hints of citrus, peach, pineapple, apricot and lime it has a fresh, very mineral, structured and elegant taste with a dominant cedar aftertaste. Greco is one of the few white grapes varieties to have a high propensity for aging. This ancient and prestigious vine was brought to the province of Avellino by the Pelagi from Thessaly in Greece in the first century BC. It was defined by the Romans as "Aminea Gemina" due to the characteristic shape of the cluster divided into two twin parts.
Production Area: The Tufo and Petruro Irpino estates are located on a predominantly clayey-limestone soil with south-east exposure and an average altitude of 450 m. above sea level. The training system is the espalier with guyot pruning, the planting density is 3,000 plants per hectar on average with a yield of about 80 q/ha and 2.6 kg/plant.
Hervest: manually harvested in mid-October
Vinification: Classic white vinification in steel tanks (about 20 days) at controlled temperature (16°C - 18°C). Refinement of a few months in bottle.
Aging potential: 20 years
