Description This dry, red wine made from the Montepulciano wine grape in the Abruzzo region of east-central Italy is noted for its deep reddish-purple hues and subtle nose with clear aromas of coffee and dark chocolate. They are wines of medium-body, with silky tannins, a pleasant mouth feel and a subtle finish. Zaccagnini is one of the most respected producers of this grape variety, making a wonderful tier of wines. Each bottle of Zaccagnini Montepulciano wine has a small piece of the grape vine around its neck as a “tralcetto”, or necktie.
Deep ruby with purple reflections.Black cherry, strawberry, spice, wet stone and damp forest floor. Amarena cherry and dusty cherry, medium silky tannins, medium dry finish

Vinification Gentle grape pressing followed by submerged-cap maceration with controlled temperature fermentation and first racking when set parameters are reached. Ageing in steel, then about 4 months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by bottle evolution.
Food matching Assertive, full-flavoured dishes like: tomato-based pizzas, game; ossobuco; roast leg of lamb; spaghetti puttanesca; pasta with sausage, pepper and onions; roast duck with green peppercorn sauce.
